Seaside Oregon is the host to the worlds largest beach volleyball tournament, this year there were over 900 teams playing on over 120 courts.

Being a bit of a volleyball nut I decided to make the trek from Vancouver to Seaside with some buddies to partake in this event. There were at least 20 of us Canucks from the lower mainland that made the trip to Seaside to play in this tournament. We had a Canadian team in a large percentage of the available divisions and skill categories.

In the Open Mens doubles the Casey brothers from Victoria placed 5th this year. A couple years back the Casey Brothers took 1st place.

In the AA Co-ed doubles Dan Caverly and Ami Seres of Vancouver took 1st place.

In the A Co-ed doubles Alex Seres from Vancouver and his pick-up partner Audrea from Houston placed 3rd

In the A Mens Doubles Kirk Walmsley and Juan Arnold of Vancouver placed 3rd.

In the BB Mens Doubles my partner Darren Nobble and I placed 7th.

In the BB Womens Doubles Joanna Damron and Sarah Kosh from Vancouver placed 5th

In the B Mens Doubles Kyle Pressacco and Raine Wright (Team Asshole) from Vancouver placed 7th

There were a few more Canadian teams but unfortunately I do not know there placings.

Aside from the Canadian Teams I was also routing for a few other teams that placed quite well. On the volleyball vacations I have participated in over the last couple years I have meet a lot of great players. Notably in this tournament Evan and Christal Engle who I met in Ixtapa Mexico were playing. Playing with Christal was Jenn Snyder who I met in Turks and Cacous. Christal and Jenn took First Place in the Open Womens Doubles, and Evan took 3rd in the Open Mens Doubles

A good time had by all! A must do again next year.

After many years of having a pretty simple website I have finally decided to give JLPhotoArt a much needed face lift.

The “New JLPhotoArt” is a complete overhaul and includes many new features and functionality. Besides the obvious “new look” JLPhotoArt now integrates functionality from many of the popular photo sharing, social networking, and online Art selling websites. The website is driven off the popular and powerful WordPress platform which is what this blog is hosted on. The Photo Gallery is a mirror of my Flickr PhotoStream to which you can browse either in the gallery section of my site or on Flickr. If there is a photo of mine that you absolutely love and must have you can now purchase my Photos to hang on your wall through the ImageKind Online art store services. And of course you can follow me on Facebook or on Twitter to be alerted when new content is posted.

I wanted the new JLPhotoArt to achieve a few key things that my previous site did not. I wanted to be able to document the “story” of my photos in a forum to which feedback and interaction could be facilitated. An effective photo will bring up feelings, emotions, memories, a “story”, or simply just a laugh. This experience will be different for every viewer, so not only did I want to be able to share the story of my experiences I wanted to allow others to share theirs.

I have a huge back log of photos that I am working to process and post on my new site and will be aiming to post a regular blog. I will be adding new features and functionality to my site as an ever evolving task. My new site is still in its infancy and I have a good deal of work left to do so please enjoy the content that I currently have published and check back regularly for new content and updates. Please feel free to contact me if you think there is something that would be a good addition to my site.

Enjoy!
J
