Worlds Largest Beach Volleyball Tournement
Seaside Oregon is the host to the worlds largest beach volleyball tournament, this year there were over 900 teams playing on over 120 courts.
Being a bit of a volleyball nut I decided to make the trek from Vancouver to Seaside with some buddies to partake in this event. There were at least 20 of us Canucks from the lower mainland that made the trip to Seaside to play in this tournament. We had a Canadian team in a large percentage of the available divisions and skill categories.
In the Open Mens doubles the Casey brothers from Victoria placed 5th this year. A couple years back the Casey Brothers took 1st place.
In the AA Co-ed doubles Dan Caverly and Ami Seres of Vancouver took 1st place.
In the A Co-ed doubles Alex Seres from Vancouver and his pick-up partner Audrea from Houston placed 3rd
In the A Mens Doubles Kirk Walmsley and Juan Arnold of Vancouver placed 3rd.
In the BB Mens Doubles my partner Darren Nobble and I placed 7th.
In the BB Womens Doubles Joanna Damron and Sarah Kosh from Vancouver placed 5th
In the B Mens Doubles Kyle Pressacco and Raine Wright (Team Asshole) from Vancouver placed 7th
There were a few more Canadian teams but unfortunately I do not know there placings.
Aside from the Canadian Teams I was also routing for a few other teams that placed quite well. On the volleyball vacations I have participated in over the last couple years I have meet a lot of great players. Notably in this tournament Evan and Christal Engle who I met in Ixtapa Mexico were playing. Playing with Christal was Jenn Snyder who I met in Turks and Cacous. Christal and Jenn took First Place in the Open Womens Doubles, and Evan took 3rd in the Open Mens Doubles
A good time had by all! A must do again next year.
